What is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?

  • A RD is a trained health professional that assesses nutrition status. Dietitians are experts in food and nutrition topics and use evidence-based research to promote optimal health and wellbeing through prevention and treatment of various conditions. Dietitians give individualized dietary advice, help promote healthy lifestyle patterns, and develop individualized dietary plans for those they work with.

Is nutrition counseling a good fit for me?

  • Nutrition couseling can be helpful if you have had a recent medical change, such as a new diabetes diagnosis, or if you have had a prolonged history of vairous conditions, including high cholesterol or high blood pressure, you'd like to better understand or manage. Nutrition counseling may also be a good fit for you if you wish to better understand how your diet can impact your weigtht or overall health status. If you are still curious about whether nutrition counseling is a good fit for you, contact Dr. Kyle Flack, RD, LD, for more information about our counseling services.

How many calories should I be eating to lose weight?

  • To best answer this, consider scheduling a Quark Resting Metabolic Rate test. This will allow us to accurately measure your metabolism and determine how many calories you are burning at rest.  From there, we can calculate how many calories you should be eating to maintain, lose, or gain weight, and you can work with one of our RDs to track your changes.

How many calories am I currently eating? Am I deficient on certain nutrients, vitamins, or minerals?

  • With our dietary intake analysis, we give you a diet log, food scale, and detailed instructions on how to keep a food record for one week. After the seven days, one of our RDs will analyze your food record to review everything about your current diet. This includes calorie intake, vitamins and minerals, and other nutrients, like saturated fat and added sugar. We can then help you understand what the analysis means for you and your health.

What is my current body fat percentage?  How does this compare to others my age?

  • To best answer this, consider scheduling a BodPod test. The five-minute test will allow us to assess your current body composition and compare it to others your age. For a reduced price, you can schedule follow-up sessions to see if you are making progress in your goals.

What should I be eating to meet my personal goals?

  • Our Registered Dietitians are available for nutrition counseling covering a wide range of topics such as weight loss and management, diabetes care, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and general dietary guidance. The RD will work with you to set realistic goals and will create an individualized plan tailored to your needs to help you achieve your goals.

  • Single sessions are available or you can purchase several follow-up sessions at a reduced cost.
